Traffic engineer (ODOT Experience required)
Pacific Northwest (preferred); Remote/Hybrid Position
We are looking for a traffic engineer who loves signals—someone who can turn data, standards, and field realities into Oregon DOT‑compliant plans with organization, teamwork, and communication. To start with, you’ll see your designs built and operating on ODOT’s most traveled corridors. And you’ll be working with an established, supportive, collaborative team with early lead opportunities and a large backlog of work.

Requirements include a BSCE or Master’s Degree in Traffic Engineering with 3+ years’ relevant experience and an Oregon Professional Engineer (PE) or close to obtaining it. This position will start with project tasks on a multi-year design-build project for ODOT involving traffic signal upgrades in support of ADA compliant intersection improvements around the state. Other company work includes traffic and civil engineering projects that may involve traffic signals, roundabouts, roadway design, non-motorized improvements, rail crossings, illumination, signing, channelization, accessibility, temporary traffic control, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and fiber optic communications.

The Traffic Engineer works with the Principals, PEs, and other PH staff on public municipal projects and private development projects. We offer full-time work with flexibility when needed, joining a small, cohesive team, and a positive work environment. We provide comprehensive benefits, paid time off, professional development support, 401k + match, and performance bonus eligibility. The salary range offered will be based on experience.

Primary Duties will include:
-
Preparing design plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) for traffic signals, roadway lighting/signing/pavement markings, temporary traffic control and ITS elements.
-
Leading and performing on a variety of projects in traffic operations and multi-modal transportation engineering.
-
Operational Analysis of arterial networks, corridor signal synchronization/timing, and freeway corridors using simulation packages.
-
Preparing plans, specifications, and estimates for various transportation and ITS projects.

-
Proficiency in Vissim, Sidra, and Autoturn are a plus
-
Experience with client meetings, project management, and proposals is desirable.
-
Working knowledge of industry practices and regulations.
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
